Here's one that I just don't understand why people can't get.
Guys, if you're going to be courteous and slow down for boats at dock, people fishing, and small craft, please do so properly. I sit on my front porch and watch people all day long who THINK they are being courteous. They see my boat tied up and they slow down anywhere between 1/4 and 1/2 throttle. Gee thanks guys, you are now throwing the maximum possible wake. I would much rather you blow by at absolute maximum throttle than do something like this.
Here's how you slow down properly: Pull the throttle back all the way to idle and let the bow settle completely, then you can bump it up slightly to get moving without pushing a big wake.
Many people that know how to do this do not have an understanding of basic geometry. Please do not wait until you are almost even with the person you are trying not to bounce around. You have to complete your bow settling well before you come even with them in order to have the intended effect.
Most boaters are not out there trying to cause problems for others. The key to all these issues, as with most others, is education. Threads like this make people think.
Before I came to Texas I had NEVER used a ramp to launch a boat. Everywhere I fished in La. had a hoist. I never would have known about the headlight issue as well as other things if not for people complaining about them here on 2cool. Hopefully my post will save a yakker from being swamped or a docked boat from getting bumped around.
One bit of info that might help with people fishing in channels. I always slow down for folks fishing. It's just the way my dad taught me. When I get withing earshot I ask them which way they want me to pass. I make it their choice and it keeps feelings from getting hurt. Yep, I know, you fish in a channel and you should expect to be disturbed. But this way, they feel better about it, and that makes me feel better too. - Sandy

If your by yourself then dock where ever you boat is going to be safe! DUH
IF you are not, AND you have someone to drive the boat and back a trailer down then let the person off at the boat slip, and back out into the water! Or when your putting the boat in the water have someone back it out of the slip, GET OUT OF THE WAY... because you and me both know at SP or icw your not going to be the only one there, and not going to be the next in line. That's all im saying.
Again this is a common sense, fishing and boating etiquette thread.

People have become way to impatient in a sport / livelyhood that by all definition is about practice and patience.

Click the E-brake once, almost all vehicles have a way to turn off the running lights.

I understood as I'm bilingual & sarcasm is my other language. Those who took you seriously either need to start drinking again or get a more adventerous girlfriend. Anyway...that scooter boat shoreline thing happened to me last summer when I was pre-fishing for a tournament...came behind us inside a reef 40+ in 2 feet of water at daylight...If he followed his GPS trail next trip, we left him set up with a nice lumber & rock surprise eye opener right where his prop scar was...

darn spout
Spout you need mo rep points. LOL
Hammer down if you're in the channel and anchored. Throws a smaller wake! Unless you're in a yak. Then we just point and laugh. J/K
Extra points for shoreline burners that think they don't scare fish off the flats too!
30 ft off a duck spread is legal game, but be sure and do a few circles around the outer decoy.
Hi Freon, Long time no see!
Do aluminum cans really decompose in 2-3 days?
This is all a joke so chill.
