Sound like a good reason for a new boat to take him fishing in. Dont forget the new rods n reels to teach him with. Of course Grandpa will have to use them a bit to make sure they are just right.

On a serious note. Not sure what to give a child that young other than the normal clothes and toys. Ask mom. Mom knows best. Or you can always set up a savings account with a little money for his future/education.

Mine just turned 2 so it wasn't that long ago & I remember I appreciated the little toys & outfits from the in laws but really appreciated the check for the college fund from my parents. And a box of diapers as a kicker never hurt - those dang things are expensive.

Wagon. Make it good one that you or his dad can load him and the gear in and haul down the jetties.

You might as well get him a mudhole and a stick. That's what he'll end up playing with if you buy anything else.

oops. I need to read better. Months old not years old. Hmmm. that's a tough one. If you've got the money then the lifetime license is a good idea or put some money in a 529 for his education that his Mom and Dad can build on over the years.
