White Rock Chocolate creek big blue WITH SS

Went with SS as far up White Rock as you can go trying for some high water Blues. We stopped on the way and caught shad and then made a long cold boat ride to the shoals. We got baited up and it was not long when SS caught a frying size blue. Then he caught another and a while later another. Was slow but we were fishing. I was getting worried that I might get skunked and then lady luck smiled big and blue. The 7ft catfish special ugly stick bowed over and I set the hook and he had me I could not turn him so I let him take line from one side of the creek to the other. We were in less than 5 ft of water and he would make a splash 50yards behind the boat. Then we had him coming to the boat we thought. He was on his time he would make a run then we would get him close. He then went to the front of the boat and back to the back.We finally had him where we wanted him and after about 4 or 5 trys we had him in the under sized net.
What a pretty fish no scale we guessed him about 30lbs and around 36 to 38 inches long. This is my largest rod reel cat to date and the shallow water and running creek made for one of the most memorable fights I have had.
We ended up with about 1/2 dozen eaters wheN we gave up.
Thanks SS it was a nice day to be out.

It was my pleasure to be there, what a fight it was. The best I have seen a catfish make. here are a couple of more pics. It was closer to 40" and a mean fighting blue.

Great fish Dwayne glad y'all ventured out, the creek really does look muddy, guess the cats really don't care, I guess SS has been going stir crazy with all the not so good weather.

I just got around to measuring the rod I used to get an idea of the cat's length after getting off the phone with texasGG and talking about catfishing.
I have 2 rods with 5500C3's (one 6'6" and the other 6') on them and after db had released the cat he asked me which one I used to take a rough measurement on, ....uh,.."I donno" know was my answer so I just taped then both to the first eye from the tip. One was 51' and the other 45". I am sure it was the 45" from tip to 1st eye, based on the chart that would put it at 41+lbs. congats db one heck of R&R cat.

Next time I will at least have a tape measure other than the one on the console that only goes to 29". can't promise a scale, I bought a spring scale last year and they are worthless, just a little use and the spring goes bad, and digitals are a little pricey.
