Live Bait on Colorado River

Does anyone sell live bait in the Bastrop/LaGrange area? I have only fished for big flatheads in the Guadalupe around Victoria and we had a stock pond that we could bait and cast net perch. I don't have that luxury here in the Austin area but want to try fishing the Colorado for flatheads now that I have relocated to the Austin area.

If there is no one to buy it from, any ideas on where to get my hands on some hand sized perch in the Colorado between Bastrop and LaGrange?

Any input would be appreciated.

JB

Texasflag2 live bait

I have seined my own bait off the sand bars in the river. Get some cornmeal for chum and find a spot out of the current. Give it a go. Even had a few water snakes end up in the net to make it interesting. I used to fish the Glen Flora area with my pop. Nothing like being on the river bank listening to the hoot-owls singing. Also had some cow bells tied to the lines, good music. Don't you just love Texas. FD

Yep Schroeders in Smithville sells Mr. Whiskers Punch Bait, minows, worms, goldfish and perch (he does not always have perch) but if you will call him and let him know what you want he will go catch you however many perch you want or need. 512 237 2445 ... some of the locals around here just go out to Buescher State Park and catch all the perch they want on pole lines with a tiny bit of worm for bait.
