Didnt Bear Grylls eat one once on his show? Thats the first thing I thought of too. I think its a wolf, but Im no expert. In fact, I rate them right up there with snakes and wasps on the kill list, which Im sure will please MC.

Looks to be a wolf, an outside 'good' ground spider found around near the house. Goes after pesty insects. If found in the garage or inside the patio door, it's just happen to be at the wrong place at the right time. Just as fearful of you as kids are to them. They are not in-the-air web builders or climbers other than may be found a foot or so on a tree with heavy rough bark. They fall prey to large wasp and you may see a wasp dragging it across the yard to a wasp hole in the ground. Front toe tip to rear toe tip will be as high as 2" dia. w/large body.
It cracks me up to see how afraids some folks are of various critters. Spiders, like snakes, don't have any particular grudge against people.
Neatest spider I've found lately was a HUGE trapdoor spider. He was about an inch across. I put one of those little paper mouthwash cups down to him to get him to bite and it was really impressive. Those things have some serious fangs and are pretty agressive.
I put him back in the flower bed where I accidently dug him up. Hope he hangs out.
