Went fishing with a buddy on 1/5 pre-front and 1/9 post-front. We threw Controlled descent paddle shad in plum limetruse and corkys in mostly pink and strawberry/white.
Pre-front WT = 64 degrees & post front WT = 53 degrees. The fish were in about the same depth of water both days ~ belly deep to chest deep. What I noticed as significant was that the CDL with rattle and foam on a carolina rig stayed above the grass while the corky required cleaning grass off the hooks frequently. There was a lot of floating grass and grass on the bottom.
1/5 pic is 1 flounder, 6 trout & 4 reds. We caught a bunch more on this full day trip.
1/9 pic is 10 trout & 1 red. We caught over 20 trout to 25". Lots of fat 22 to 24" trout in this spot and lots of pan size trout too. We only fished from 1:30 to dark on the 9th.
On the 9th heading out wind was SE @ 25 +/- and the chop was 3 to 4 feet. We were both impressed with how the Black Jack 224 ate the chop like it was a light lunch. We only got wet one time when the shoreline and rocks required a turn that was close to 60 degrees broadside to the chop.
