US Reels

They're Here.
FTU is now selling the reels. The Rep for US Reels is trying to see if Academy is interested in selling them.
I have been field testing this reel for over a month now and I really like it. It's smooth and does cast a good distance. I have fished this reel next to my Curados & Citicas using the same rod, lures, & braid, which I might add, US Reels has their own line of braid out. I tested the 15#, 20#, & 30 # braids.
Once I got home, all I've done is rinse the reel off, cast it about 10 yards and reel it in and rinse it off again. I have had no problems with the mechanicals on it.
Not sure on the selling price yet. I am meeting the rep today and get more info.

Went and had lunch with the Rep and his son so they could inspect the one I've been using. It's the 1000Pro Baitcaster. They really liked what they saw. Especially when I told them I was using it and just rinsing it off.
FTU should have a few of them already. Hopefully Academy might pull the trigger and get a few around late march.
I am actually bringing this one to work tonight at Academy so I can show it off.
Needless to say, as with any new product, there are skeptics out there. Some will love it and some will have issues with it.
Me? I really like it.
But, I'll have it at Academy tonight. Just as long management doesn't object. Which I don't see why they would being they might start selling them.

I liked it. But, it's just like everything else, some will like and some will not. I ahd no problems with it. The reel works great into the wind. Sunday before last i TRIED to get into Trinity and the wind was howling, 1 1/2 - 2 chop out there. I just ran the shoreline up towards the spillway and drifted back. Every now and then I would turn and throw into the wind and it actually went further than the othertwo reels in my boat. Line worked well though

Wide open. No restrictions when casting. The problem is with the line on one side of the spool and the eyelet on the opposite, the line has to make that joggle to come & out of the spool. It there that friction is created and loss of distance is the result.
The ABLe levelwind bar is just that, a bar that rotates as you reel in and with the shoulders on the bar 180 degrees from each other levels the line on the spool. So now when you cast, the line basically comes off the spool practically unrestricted.
I had it at Academy last night when I was working, quite a few people were impressed with it.
