Manta Rays in the Gulf
I took these a few weeks ago off a platform rig 70 miles SW of Fourchon, LA. There were 3 of them and the biggest was at least 20 ft across. I had no idea they got that big, and I had never seen them in person. The pictures were from a cell phone camera sorry for the quality.

Nice pics. You never know where stuff will show up in the Gulf. Diving at a rig 7 miles off the beach near Packery I saw both spotted eagle rays and a large manta with 8 ling following him, 4 on top, 4 on bottom, it was quite a site.

I saw a manta ray about 10 or 12 foot wide about a 1/4 mile outside mitchells cut in Sargent two years ago. It was pretty impressive. Nice photos.
