Honeymoon In Maui
Well....I'm about to tie the knot fellas. My future bride and I are going on our honeymoon to Maui March the 13th and will be back to Houston on the 22nd. Other than the OBVIOUS ACTIVITIES, any suggestions on what to do. I have a kitchen pass to do some fishing but haven't done a bit of research on whats hot and whats not. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
1-2-Fish

Congrats on marriage...
I visited Maui few years back and found taking a small charter boat fishing was pretty cool...Find ya a boat that takes just a few people not one of those 100 people dealies like we have in Galveston...
Ya might want to consider taking a day trip up to what is called the Hanna Ranch...Quite the drive to say the very least..
See if ya can finagle a way to attend one of the big outdoor Luau's at the Hilton Hotel...
May only be for registered guest..not sure..but a great evening for you and bride id ya can swing it?
Have ya gone on line and done a search on "things to do in Maui"?
Have a great trip..
P.S. Take slippers to wear on plane...Long long flight....

Maui
I am going in to Maui in May. I got a good tip on this board from a gentlemen named Brent who recommended a travel guid called Maui Revealed. You can find the book at a book store. It is loaded with some very helpful information. I have currently booked two full day private charters on the Ho'okela with Captian Kim. I did a little research on different charters and asked for some recommendations on this board and chose this charter. Hope this helps and have a great time.

If your staying anywhere near Lahaina, Maui then there are numerous charters right there on front street. I would suggest going offshore (which is like 1 or 2 miles) the water gets extremely deep quick. "Finest Kind" is a very good charter and its only a 100 dollars/per person for half day trip. Other than that definetly check out front street shops/dining, beaches and shops/dining of kaanapali, makena, take a nice winding road trip through mountain terrain to hana (worth the experience) with natural waterfalls along the way. There is plenty to do in maui other suggestion other than fishing would include snorkeling, helicopter trips, Definetly go to a "all u can eat" Luau with an "open bar" along with a entertainment of traditional hawian dances. usually they will be right on the beach so its a really nice atmosphere.
PM me if you want more details or have any questions. I been there a few times and have family over there. I myself am planning to go back this May.
Oh, one other note...... expect to pay higher prices for "non-locals" then "locals" that live there. It seems kinda like going to another country but its worth it.

Congratulations!!
We visited my brother (who lives there) two years ago and had a blast. Stuff I'd recommend:
- Menehune Shores condos in Kihei -- nice, clean, private and innexpensive - $125/night for a 2 BR 2 BA condo and you could use the snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, beach towels in the unit.
- Luau at Wailea Renaissance Hotel -- great food and entertainment
- Road to Hanna - it's an all-day kind of drive, but worth it - get a convertible and stop at the waterfalls along the way to Hanna to get pictures
- Hamoa Beach - it's a "black sand" beach on the way to Hanna. Pack a picnic to have lunch -- it's a beautiful place
- Makena Beach - this was our favorite beach; mainly cause our kids had a blast in the small surf
If you need more help, PM me and I can ask my brother specifics.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tours
http://www.bluehawaiian.com/tour_overview.php?tgid=2
Unbelievable views
Downhill Bike Ride
http://www.mauidownhill.com/
Start above the clouds...end at sea level +20 degrees...go at sunrise
Spago, Four Seasons, Maui
http://www.opentable.com/rest_profile.aspx?rid=1967
Wolfgang Puck's restaurant...pricey, but really nice...sunset views
Kimo's Restaurant
http://www.kimosmaui.com/
25+ years...nice atmosphere...$15-25 plate
I would suggest skipping any "guided" snorkeling trips. The rocks right off the beaches hold tons of fish. Borrow or buy some snorkel gear, and go at it.
Spook is right about the fishing boats. There are quite a few available. $100-$150 per person. Not sure if it's too early for blues, but you should have no problem catching wahoo and mahi mahi.
Have a great time.

I agree with hoosierplugger the black sand beach is a must. The day we went there weren't very many people either. If you like pinapple, do not pass up the chance to get it from the farm itself. They have booths set up to get fresh pineapple and I mean fresh. Juicy, juicy, juicy!!!!!!
Have fun and take some gum on the flight to help on your desend down. The altitude decrease will affect your ears.

I'm Fired Up!!
You guy's have me fired up and ready to go!!!! Just finished booking the helicopter tour. Since we have rented a car, ya'lls list of beaches and road to Hana won't be a problem. Restaurants will I guess be trial and error. Looking for sunset dinners w/ good atmosphere. Hope we pick the right restaurants. Luau is a done deal.
If any of you guys have recommended fishing charter phone numbers or web pages, that would be even better!! Anyone done any whale watching over there?? For those that have snorkeled we don't really want to go out on a boat. Rather just do it off the beach. Which beach would you recommend?
Thanks so much to all that have responded. Ya'll have been a huge help.
Gary
