fishin Fri 02-11-05

Myself, J Roney, and Capt. Mark went fishing today. For personal safety reasons, (fear of Capt mark and J Roney) I cannot disclose the location of our spot. We have a secret hole that has always produced for us no matter what conditions were present. However we always yearned to get farther in the backwater of this honey hole, but no boat will get back there. All of us recently purchased kayaks to go with our boats and so today was a kayak day to the water previously unaccessible to use in the boats. Put the yaks in at 2:00pm and found this new water all we anticipated and more. Released many, some were unintentional releases and others were meant to be thrown back, but thats another story. Keep enough for dinner( 2 reds and 4 trout). Anything with limetruese was the key today. There was a topwater bite but not nearly as good as subsurface lures. Here are a few pics. Sorry for the quality of the pics, they are from a camera phone, My wife wont let me take the digital on the yak, she has some wierd idea that I may turtle in it. Go figure.

Rich, We all have Wilderness systems Ride kayaks. Answering your other question , the kayak is the way to go. I love to wade fish and just sold my Carolina Skiff. I mainly used the boat to get to where I was fishing and then over the gunnels I went. Capt Mark has a blue wave and same goes for that. We wade year round. With that being said, there is no comparison to the stealth you get with the kayak. It is much easier to sneak up on them than any other method. Additionally, there is just something about being right there at water level and not sinking up to your ***** in mud. I am relatively new to kayak fishing but I can tell you its a blast when a redfish gives you a sleigh ride.
