tires

any recommendations on tires
i've got an 06 dodge cummins 4X4 with 305 maxxis buckshots on it now but they are fixing to need replacing. anybody had any luck with any other tires. looking at probably mud terrains. i like the look of the toyo m/t but are just as expensive as the bfg m/t.

I've always had great luck with Cooper Discoverer. I've been running their 10 plies in South Tx for years w/no flats and very good tread life.

stay away from nittos, I have 285/70/17'S on my 03 and they are half worn already at 15,000 miles !!! I just bought them last year !! They also suck in thorny areas. Sucks to dump almost a grand on tires and they dont last........

I also have an 06 cummins and am having great luck with BFG ATs. I've ran over many a ST thorn and over many a sharp rock and have only had 1 leak fixed. Tires are also wearing minimally.

thanks guys
i know to stay away from the nittos
i do not really like the bfg all terrains, but i do not want to fork out the money for the mud terrains
i may stick with the maxxis again but go to a 295 instead of a 305, the price is a whole lot better and i will get about 35-40k miles on the ones i have now with only rotating them twice. i am off the paved(gravel, pasture, etc.) road to much to really go with a radial or all terrain
i bought the last set through a buddy who used to work at discount tire, but I dont really have any friends that still work there anymore

I was thinking of trying HANkOOKs next. I think they are the Dynapro mt RT03. They come in 265,285, and 315's. Its just hard to swallow 225$ per tire for BFG's. Ive had several pairs of bfg's, but they were always on 15in rims. What a difference in price for 17's !!!!

Expressfish, I have a set of 285x70x17 Hankook Dynapro MTs on my '03 Supercrew. I got the four tires with free shipping for $625 off of Ebay. If I remember correctly the store name was Mac's Tire Bin. So far I've put about 21k miles on them and they have plenty of life left. I've also had them in some nasty stuff here at the ranch and they haven't let me down yet! Here is a pic or my truck. Kind of a bad picture.
