LUF/NAC RC track??
Whats up 2COOLERS-
Im moving to the Nacogdoches/Lufkin area early Sept, my In-laws are already out there and my Bro-In-Law is into RC, has a few cars and choppers etc. He raced out here in SoCal and has a room full of trophies to show for it. I was wondering if anyone knows of any RC tracks or groups who meet around the Nac/Luf area. Thanks in advance!

I live here in Nacogdoches and I don't know of any shops. I definetly know there isn't any tracks around. There use to be a hobby shop and track in Lufkin but they folded a while back. The track and hobby shop were on the same site, but the guy decided to move the shop into the mall and keep the track where it was, and thats when the shop and track went under.
Sixshootertexas get the name and location of the hobby shop from your nephew..

Shreveport/Bossier maybe your closest, unless you drive over to Waco and run the oval. Of course, Lufkin is about mid way between Houston and Shreveport/Bossier so you could make a run to Mike's if you think you would run up to the Shreveport/Bossier track.

Still closer to Houston than Shreveport from Lufkin.
The hobby shop in Lufkin is down Timberland somewhere, it's a joke, not worth even visiting. I think I saw a couple of cars (RTR stuff), a nitro motor, and a battery pack or two. Most of us have more stuff than they had when I was there.

I was raised in Lufkin, but been here in Houston for 18 years now. Back in my childhood the biggest tracks were BMX. The only R/C stuff I remember back then was airplanes and helis. They'd put on an airshow near the small airport. Can't remember the name now, it's been too long.
Lufkin has grown double in size since I've been there and seriously, if you wanted to get some R/C stuff going, I'd bet there are plenty of willing people there to support it. 1/18th would definately be the way to go to start things off. You could build from there. Gather some resources and interested people and put your heads together to figure something out. Heck, just a handful of you could put on a show to get more involved.
Go for it!
