Phil Hellmuth Eliminated

Phil Hellmuth was all in for 400 in the big blind. He woke up to A-Q and was in a race situation with an opponent who held . The flop was . The on the turn paired Hellmuth up, but his opponent now had a club flush draw with the in his hand. The river was the , making his opponent's flush and eliminating Hellmuth from the Main Event.

We're sure to be hearing about that runner-runner flush for years to come on ESPN's broadcasts.

After his elimination, a barrage of cameras followed the Poker Brat out of the Amazon Room and into the hallway. As Nolan Dalla announced to the room that Hellmuth had been eliminated the entire room clapped and cheered... that he was gone.

I played in event 15. $1500 buy in. Where he won Bracelet number 11. There were 2628 players I came in 26th top 1% and a paycheck of $20,806.00. I was still disappointed to get with in 25 of a bracelet and $637K for 1st. He was the only real big name pro that out lasted me. I ran into a big blind with pockets Aces. No bad beat just ran into a monster. So not bad overall. Maybe next year.

I played at the table next to his for about 10hrs one day of that tourney and he was fine. Never heard him whine or get out of line once. He does like to be the table captain though. I have played in other tourney's with him and most of the time he is ok. His outburst makes for good tv. I am not a fan of his, but I do respect him as a player. I am going to an Event at Ceaser's Palace in October. They are having around 15 tournaments over a 2 week period of time. I think I may go to California for an Event at the Commerce in August. Not sure yet. And I hope to go to the U.S. Poker Championship in Atlantic City I think it is in Feb.
I had a chance to play in the 2007 Main Event but I decided against it. I had a major suck out last weekend in event 49 and decided to come home and save my $.

You should go at least once. Play a satellite tourney to get in. It is an awesome experience. Fun to play with all the pro's you see on tv. I went out in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007. I have only played in 4 wsop major events in that time. 3 of them this year. 1 in 2005. Other times I played in smaller events and cash games. There is something there for all players. Lots of small games and huge games. I have made it on tv a few times, but only for a few seconds at a time. Still trying to get to a final table in a major. Won several smaller ones and many final tables, but still trying to get to the big one. I was close in event 15. I have also been to some of the WPT Events and Wsop Circuit Events. All are a blast. Make Plans and Go. Good Luck.

It is very hard for anyone to make it through the huge fields. In event 15 we started with 2628 players and after the 1st day 14hrs of play we were down to 161 players. Then it took 8 hrs to get down to top 27. Most get out it the first day. We lost 500 in the 1st hr. If you make a small mistake or 2 or lose to bad beat or you are out real quick.

I guess you have people trying to win the whole thing during the first few levels.
