JJ Park update
Went to J. Jones park after work Thursday. Water still needs to drop another 4 or 5 feet. My camera was in the truck all week and the heat must of drain the battery, so I didn't get any pics. I like coffee and cream like the next guy, but not in my fishing hole. It was like a river of coffee and it was running fast. I did fish some dead water for about 30 min, but no luck.

I think the white bass run is over. Now to the next run, catfish or crappies. Or even better, the SALTWATER species. The water temp has hit that "magical 70" mark.

Salt, with the rain we got last night & is still raining this morning (depending on where you live).....it will be a while before JJ will return to nice and slow flowing. Livingston or Somerville should be good from now to May according to one of my uncles who fish both lakes over the years.

Hey Cajunasian...did you go to Somerville on Sunday? I went up to Somerville with my brother Sunday because I wasn't able to sleep mainly. We fished the spillway and ended with 14 fish. A couple of good size hybrids, 11 white bass, and 1 catfish. People were tearing it up on the white bass using minnows below the spillway. We were using grubs and bass assassins mainly. We heard that boaters were tearing up the crappies on the lake on Sunday. Just curious to see how you did on Somerville..........

Salt, the whites will be good below the dam here for a while, when the discharge falls to a safe boating level I'll holler at you. it was very nice to meet your family and I'm so proud I got your wife's name right. My hearing is very bad and I feel embrassed when I can't get sounds right. Tell her thanks for the fine grilled food, and the next trip i feel sure will be better for fishing.

Shad,
Wife and family had a fun time out there. She said it was nice to meet you and your wife, Karen. Definitely holler at me when the level gets right at the bottom of the dam.

Me and two buds got the the spillway @ 7:30 am, late start. Anyway, my buds fished with live minnows and I stuck with my lures. Used 1/4 oz grubs and rattle traps. I caught 2 nice size whites and then went after some strippers on ultra light gear. Only had one stripper hit. It spit the hook after about 5 minutes of fighting, but I got the best part out of the fight. I had a nice 5 minutes tug-a-war on light tackle. What a blast!!! Don't worry, he will live to play again another day. We left at noon with only 10 whites and 2 crappies. Talked to a few guys on the lake. Cats, Crappie and Goos are hitting minnows and shads in 5 to 10 foot of water.
