my hawaii recon mission
hawaii was awesome and i found no reason not to go. im heading back in february for another couple weeks. i was lucky enough to meet the right person the first day i was in kona. a 25 year old captain that happened to have the same exact interests as me. met a super hot girl over there named wendy that is right up my alley. she went offshore with us one day and is friends with the capain i met. she knew her stuff and could put amy to shame. sorry to say..so everythings for sale now. including my house.
the first day started out good. i drove around and met up with a lady friend. i rented a car and first thing locked the keys inside. i was at walmart so i went in bought a crowbar and a cane pole and was able to break in. then i took the crowbar and cane pole back to walmart and got my money back unfortunatly it was after a few drinks and the door ended up having about a half inch gap. i was able to bend the door back the next day and there wasnt a problem. the next couple days were a blur and everymorning i was trying to get the feel of the harbor in lahina. the harbor was small and there were very few boats going out. yes the fishing is not very good at all there. the only thing about maui i liked was the beach. i wasnt impressed at all. i did meet those 2 girls on a beach and stayed with one of them 3 nights. nice to have a bed and a place to crash and take a shower. she begged me to stay there and move in with her. i understand there is a lack of decent guys there so the girls would pounce on me like fresh meat. it would be awsome if people there actually fished hard. all they would have to do is go further and stay later. i was told togo to kona if i wanted to check out the fishing at its best. so after a few more days of hanging out and partyin, i went to kona. I GOT OFF THE PLANE, hitchiked to the harbor crashed out under a tree and found a boat to go on and get some training. i really needed someone to spend time with me and show me the ropes of being a deckhand on a nice sportfisher. lot more to it than i thought. after a few days it was easy as it could be. we didnt raise any marlin the 3 days i was on the boat but every other boat that went out came in with one or two marlin. the other thing that is disturbing though is the amount of marlin killed there. sems like a waste but its money in your pocket though. some of the marlin were bringing in up to a dollar a lb but average of 50 cents a lb. heres some select pics and sory yes there are some i cant put on here that yall would love to see. i had to sleep in a garbage bag outside the oahu airport on the 24th. that sucked i didnt bring my sheet and towels i had before in kona. it was too cold to sleep in the airport. i had an almost 12 hour lay over there.
i think the coolest part of the trip was the plane ride home from las angeles to las vegas. i met a cool cute chick in the airport and got in depth with some conversation. she was a marine boilogy student heading to new york for grad school. we ended up having an extra seat next to her so we sat together. after the seatbelt sighn went off we went to the back of the plane and joked around about joining the club with the flight attendant. they laughed and then we sat back down. i looked over at my new friend and said hmmm that got me thinking. she smiled and said me too. so we talked about it...... i told her to go and id be there in a second. well we made it there and about 10 or 15 seconds later the flight attendant knocked on the door and threatened to have us arrested when we landed. so we had to go back to our seats. oh well and yes all this happened in about a 50 minute flight. we said we'll meet up one day in las angeles where shes from and take a "flight" somewhere... anyway it was fun and felt like home to me.
