Scuba Pro regulators, Scuba Pro or Ranger BC, Steel tanks (Scuba Pro 78 cu ft) Good compass and submerssible pressure gauge and a non air intergrated dive computer. I prefer weight belts to weight integrated Bouyancy Compensators. I also like the Scuba Pro frameless mask. Oh, and get the biggest dive knife you can find the bigger the better for hammaring and prying and hacking away at things underwater.

ditto on the scuba pro stuff

have a dive shop ck out the mask you already own for proper tempering

take a look at what everyone is wearing and make a note, esp the instructors.

your dive shop most likely will offer you a pkg discount with the class

spend most of your money on the reg and bc

you have a a ford vs chevy question,............ buy what fits you or rent or borrow several diff ones to find what you like.

it's a big up front expense and used gear is about half what new stuff runs, don't get in a hurry

good luck

Just from my experience....Zeagle BC, Oceanic Regs....I've had very good luck with these. I think the main thing with any brand you buy.....Maintenance and Care, these are the two best things that will prolong and ensure good performance with dive gear. Especially when you spend as much time as our group does during the season.

I can go with you if you have plans to not quit freediving.

Good luck with your equipment search.

Hey Cap Atomic Aquatics is one of the best on the market they use titanium in their regulators this reduces corosion. They are one of the best that i have read about, but is one of the most expensive that i have found. i will get one in time. (feb 15 class starts)
