Thumbs down Toledo Bend Crappie?

I'm taking my wife and 7 year old son to Toledo Bend next week. Does anyone have reports on Crappie fishing lately? I thought I would try the Chicken Coup area. I haven't fished there in a few years but had good success when I did. I heard the recent rain kind of stained the upper and mid lake areas. We will be staying North of the Pendelton bridge close to the Chicken Coup area. Thanks for any reports or advice you may have.

Crappie are being caught at the coop. The lake is up about 3'. stumps that were visible a month ago are not now. So be careful not scared just careful. Stay in the river channel and you will have no problems. Good Luck.

Yes, we are staying near Holly Park Marina. I heard people also catch Crappie under the bridge near the marina.

Crappie at Chicken Coop

I took my Dad there last week and fished Monday and Tuesday. Launch at Best Park as it is only about 5 minutes from the Coop area. Make sure you have Two anchors and a decent boat. One boat capsized while we were there. The waves got up to 2 feet during Tuesday morning. Also make sure you have lots of rope. You may be anchoring in 50' of water. Watch you depth finder for the schools of shad and position your boat over them. Fish the bank side of the river in morning and move to the outside during the day into the flats as the Crappie move out after the morning. Or thats what we found. Good luck.

What do you mean by "Toledo Bend crappie?" I always thought it was an ok lake...

and, yes, I did some crappie fishing recently...didn't catch anything...which made it especially crappie...
