In my case, i also have a PikePass for Ok. They told me not to mount either one permanently or i would get all messed up between the EZ tag and their PikePass. jerry lived in Iowa, and i was in Alvin for the last 10 years. we kept the trail hot, i tell ya! anyway, im glad he has retired down with me (and Yall!).

EZ Tags

It is my understanding that the new EZ tags are good on all toll ways in Texas, e.g Dallas. I don't know if this is true or not however. The EZ tag people called me to get a good address to mail the new tag to and told me the old tags will no longer work after a certain time frame. I like not having the tag mounted to the windshield as I will take it with me when I ride my motorcycle. I don't understand EZ tags position on having a separate tag for each vehicle as I am still charged every time I go through a toll.

They state they will/do compare your EZ Tag number against the license plate on the vehicle you use as a check to see if you are using the tag on multiple vehicles.

They only compare plate/ez-tag numbers if the camera is tripped by a non-read.
They do not photo every vehicle that passes thru ez tag lanes.
The Westheimer toll-plaza sees 450,000 vehicles a day on average ,,,how many people does it take (on a daily basis) to read that many pics ?? And do the comparison of liscense plate numbers and the tag / account info ??
The scanners are getting aged and sometimes are slow to register a tag. that may be the cause of your prob.
My company's fleet has 6 vehicles and three ez tags,, They are rotated all the time with no letters from HCTRA.
I've always wonder how the myth got started that if you switch vehicles and keep the same tag they will catch you,, If the tag is current and does not give you a red light they dont snap a pic,, so how do they know ???
