Cry water in the ice tray

got home this eve only to find out the icemaker in the fridge is pouring out into the ice tray. question is where do start to solve the problem. i'm sure this has been covered b4,please forgive me for the same question.

I think most work like a washing machine , has timer that turns and cycles to fill then waits to freeze then emptys and fills again.

Probably the valve where the water line is connected to. It's got an electronic solenoid to control that valve.

Either the valve is worn and leaking, or the solenoid is not closing the valve completely.

Do what I did - Turn the water off - Buy some ice trays and drool at those $1000 frigs at Lowes

Sometimes when the icetray gets old it loses the ability to release the ice. When there is still ice in the tray the water that is supposed to refill it ends up in the large tray below. Not sure if that is your problem but it is something I've experienced in the past.

Had this happen to me before. I tried a couple of things to fix it but wound up just buying a new icemaker for like $80.00.
