If you want to fish it. Park outside of it and wade the area.
And you'll sink to your knees in silt and mud.

David nailed it with his description but I've caught a tournament winning flounder and trout back there.

Run slow in the gut until you feel that it's getting too shallow and then let the SE wind push you back to the ICW.

Yes sir, I was in there with Capt. Ernest Cisneros in his Shallow Sport.

When can you get a jackplate? Keep your eyes open for a good used Bobs, they arn't much, you'll be able to add a lot of water that you could cover.

Google Earth makes it look like a deep gut, but its not as deep as it appears. It has silted in over the years and pretty muddy. Its about 1' deeper than the adjacent flat in most areas. As mentioned, the surrounding area is very shallow on a low tide.

^ this and DCAVA ... it's not a deep gut.. it might be enough for a hole shot on a decent tide if all you need is 20, but I wouldn't plan your whole trip around it, if you set down in the wrong place on a wrong tide that's going out it could be a long walk and airboat tow's aren't cheap either.

Get used to finding poles or pvc pipes and reading the tide height off of them from the algae and barnacle line at mean tide. That's something Railbird passed on to me for fishing and running the flats, works good for also knowing the tide height for big trout spots to.

Thanks once again to all of you.
Ill be going tomorrow, and will probably attempt it while the tide is increasing.

I am definitely planning on getting a JP this summer, looking into the Atlas micro jacker, or see what else comes up.
