We just unloaded our first Evinrude G2 250 H.O.. This one has arrived a little early for testing and demos. They should start shipping retail sold ones in late October early November. We will have this one rigged and ready to run very soon.

This looks awesome and much better than the photo they showed us at the discussion group thing. A little over a year ago I got a notification to be on a discussion group about the new look and they said you will be paid $200.00 and we will have food as well. It lasted about 2 hrs and was lots of fun, they said we could not tell anyone about it untill the new motor came out. I think this one is cool and reminds me of the old pistol grip shifters on the muscle cars of the early 70's. And I was told that you can choose the color of your side plates to match your boat-so I assume your boat is white. Very cool motor enjoy

Etec

200 HO G2? someone is trying to hit a grand slam on that deal. They are no where near that price!

A 2013 300 rigged to go turn key was $23,800.00
2014 dealer net $19,600
2015 dealer net $20K
2015 G-2 $24K .........maybe the G-2 will hold better value as used, who knows...the other Etec's certainly do not.....

Sounds like you paid too much for that 300 which is the same motor as the 250 HO. For an offshore boat like yours, the 300 Yamaha Offshore Series would have been such a better motor for your setup and probably cost the same and those Yamaha 4 strokes are incredible offshore boat motors. Last thing you want for an offshore boat is a unreliable gas guzzler like the 300 Etec.

Are they still going to make the old style? I plan on repowering next year maybe. I like my etec it's been a good motor, not completely sold on this new transformers looking etec.
No one in their right mind should want an old version of the Etec. Heck they are making the Gen 2 motor because the Gen 1's were so unreliable and gas guzzlers. No matter what it looks like, the Gen 2 will be leaps and bounds better than the Gen 1 motor. Just get the custom paint part black so the whole motor will be black and it won't look so bad. I agree, the looks aren't great but the motor will be a lot better than the original Etec and all of it's problems. Can't get much worse than the Gen 1's so the Gen 2's have to be better.

We got a couple hours on our first 250 H/O G2 on Saturday, on a Blackjack 224. Very quiet, awesome acceleration and power. We will be doing prop tests soon, will report back! I am very excited about these new engines, and look forward to outfitting many rigs with them! Ronnie. Red Wing Boat Co. Houston, Texas
