I bought a Penn BTL8000 spinning reel and am looking for information about what rod to buy to go with it. I have it spooled with 60 lb braid and want to use for Tuna,AJs and Snapper. What do you folks think? If you think I screwed up let me know. I have thick skin and want to buy once cry once.
You should be fine. I have seen lots of nice fish caught with that reel. 100 lb tuna? I'd upgrade, but for most of the fish you catch, it will be fine. You will beat fish with the drag and capacity. As for rods, I do like my trevala xxh. Look at spinal and star plasma too. My next rod will be a black hole cape cod 250gr. They are awesome but cost about 350-400 bucks. Good luck!
