Coincide with the flounder run fall/winter sheepshead fishing just got started. Took the family out to catch some underrated, tasty sheepies. We fish the docks at Surfside Marina and Lea's money hole. The sheeps are plentiful but are on the smaller size. It was fun for the kiddos and wife, did manage a few keeper sheeps and one nice spec. Check out Lea's video below and enjoy!
We use live shrimps: small one works better, and we use the larger ones to chum. When the larger sheeps starting to show up, we use more blue crabs and that seems to catch ones that are 5lbs plus.
Also we will do a better job at handling the fish so we would not harm the fish when we released them. We will only let the kids hold up the fish that will take home for dinner and the fish that are released we will try to released them in the water or holding them up with out using a towel so they will thrive after the catch. I alway try to teach my kids to conserve and do things the right way sometimes it slips my mind.
