Fished out there a lot over the years. Decent rentals are getting harder and harder to find out there. Last place we rented was really nice, even had a commercial shaved ice machine that I fixed for them while I was there. Checked on it the next year and they were no longer renting it.

We've had good nights fishing the lights, and we've had nights where we didn't get a single bite. Just depends on the day I guess.

Lights are usually better in the summer, and like Tx Renegade said, some nights it's not a guaranteed thing.

As mentioned, some nights you can catch dozens and some nights zero. I have also noticed that the trout fishing seems to get better down-river, closer to the ICW.

Fished the arroyo quite a bit at night and usually always caught fish. I've caught snook pretty far up the arroyo as well.

My friends dad had a house down there close to the old Sanchez boat ramp. 15 years ago we would wear ourselves out catching trout all night. 1 in 10 may have been keepers, but when you catching 100+ fish each it's a good night. After he sold the place we kept our annual fishing trip going by renting places down there. Best night fishing we ever had was at a place a lot farther up river, almost half way to Rio Hondo. Caught a lot bigger fish the further upriver we went.

If the bait is there for the lights to draw them in it should be good fishing. There were nights when we didn't even have to buy shrimp, we just caught them off the posts of the dock with small nets. We'd catch $40 worth of live shrimp and couldn't keep them stocked in the baitwell there were so many trout around.

The best rental on the Arroyo is http://www.vrbo.com/499621 - great fishing under the lights, big bbq pit, 2 lifts, stocked kitchen, palapa over the water, clean house. We stay there regularly. The only downside is that you can't book it more than a few weeks in advance.

I stayed at the Arroyo Cottage. Was great. Nothing fancy, but had boat lift and lights to fish off of pier at night. Close to new boat ramp. Contact this guy:
Ray Ortega 832-687-2225.

We stayed in this place a few years ago and fished with John. I knew I remembered that palapa, he had a tapped keg for us too.
