St Charles boat ramp

Is the ramp at St Charles bay open again? What work did they do?
Certainly could use more parking.

Its open, no room for more parking unfortunately. They poured a concrete pad in front of the ramp, the constant wet conditions meant constant pot holes in the asphalt. They put a kayak ramp and dock for them on the far north end of the parking area. They installed barrier sheeting like whats located on the south side on both the north and east side to cut down on the wave action around the ramp and docks. They also filled in a hole that was at the bottom of the ramp with large rocks, the hole developed from folks gunning these engines while loading, the rock should stay in place longer.

There is actually less parking now than before. They put in benches where people used to back trailers over the curb stops along the water edge. The breakwaters they put in are kinda messed up. There really isn't a lot of room anymore in the "harbor". Also, the harbor isn't much calmer than before. I will try and get some pics tomorrow. We talked to the commissioner and she said there was an engineering study done but you know how that goes. I know of one person who has already busted their prop on the rocks they put in. Make sure you trim your engine up when you put your boat on the trailer.
