Gear ratio for spinner baits

What gear ratio do y'all prefer for spinner baits? I know most recommend a 7.x:1 across the board, but I'm wondering if anyone uses a slower ratio on a dedicated spinner bait rod?

I buy all 7:1 or better, you can always turn the handle slower but the higher ratio helps when you got a fish running to you or trying to get your lure in and recast to a missed strike.

Spinner baits, crank baits etc create a lot of drag. You need more power then speed. I use 6:1 for these type baits and even 5:1 for the bigger crank baits. Just about everything else I use 7:1+

Thanks, that was my reason for asking. I had read elsewhere that it's more difficult on the reel with a 7:1 when you slow down and reel a spinner bait than it is on a 6:1 or 5:1. I was just curious if anyone followed that advice or just went with 7:1 across the board.

7.x:1. Best all around if you ask me. Not too fast, not too slow. Like Majek said, you can reel slower if you need to
