4.1.17 Kayak Trip
A friend wanted to go fishing this past weekend. So I went on a last minute kayak trip. The wind was blowing 20-30 mph out of the southeast in the morning; which made for an easy kayak out and terrible kayak in.I started fishing around 8:30am over hard sand and grass. The water depth was about 5-6ft.The water level had finally risen compared to the last couple of weekends and it was an incoming tide.We started catching dink trout and rat reds immediately with at keeper trout mixed in here or there. At around 10:30 I moved to a shallow area still sand and grass.I started catching keepers on every cast and got my limit fairly quickly. Trout were between 17” - 20”. (No pic, phone was dead.) We were throwing popping cork and live shrimp. I wet waded for the first time this year. The water was cool but not unbearable. My friend didn't catch any keepers but I think not being too stealth like played in to that.
