I have a Phantom casting rod and it's a decent rod. I use it mainly for top water plugs and crank baits, but its a little stiff for soft plastics to me. I actually want a whippy rod for this application.

Yeah I have the 6'6" medium light phantom and it's almost 2 whippy. If whippy is what you want, I'd take a good look at the phantom ML.

You are right, the Waterloo Phantom is really whippy. I actually use my Skeleton V2 casting rod for tops. What can I say, I misquoted. #toomuchtackle

I had a Waterloo Salinity for a while and ended up returning it because it felt like a wet noodle. Ha ha!

I have not ruled out Billystix by any means. Hell I may even order 2 to save on shipping (assuming you can ship 2 in the same container). My wife's birthday is coming up.

If you want a rod that feels like a light weight custom rod, try the Lews American Hero IM6 series rods. With a price of about $70 you will be impressed.

I really wanted to like the H2O Bone Daddy. It has Fuji components and a Winn grip for 99.00, but they're not made very well. It was very hard to find even one that had inline guides.

The Abu Garcia Villain is an interesting rod, it's marked down from 179.00 to 89.00 right now. Have to see the price in cart.

Give the castaway skeleton v2 a spin..has been a great set of rods, especially the tops & tails. Btw serious tackle has an awesome clearance $ on em.
