Inlet condition at South Padre Island

I'm pulling my 19' center console to South Padre Island the 3rd week of July. I usually go to Port A and fish around the ends of the jetties with shrimp or troll the pass for Kings. Usually in the morning the pass is calm and friendly. Does the pass at South Padre get like that as well?

Totally depends on the weather/tide/wind. It can be flat and clear one day and rough and nasty the next. In July it can be pretty calm unless there's a storm.

For the most part I find the Brazos Santiago Pass calmer than the Port Aransas jetties. Less boat traffic of all kinds down South compared to the coastal bend. If it's blowing both are going to be rough.

Thanks. Looks like afternoon fishing for outgoing tide when I'll be there, so hopefully it will be nice weather.

Last time I was down there I was in a 20 foot cc and we were able to get out. Like most passes it's roughest at the end but nothing crazy. We were there for a week and could get out and in without much trouble. Just watch the tides and winds and you'll be fine.

Should be good during the month of July. Glass conditions and balls of bait being busted up.
