Chocolate... good news bad news

Good news is if you like to fish Geo tubes on West side of Chocolate you're about to have a lot more area.
Bad news if you're like me and like to short cut by Geo tubes to get to West shoreline of West Galveston bay you had been very careful. New project going on to prep for dredging of intercoastal. This isn't you typical geo tubes either. These are rocks wrapped with plastic mesh like rock mats stacked up. There's about 100 yards of levee built on Chocolate side of intracoastal right before channel and another 100 that is just below waterline. Heading out early morn might be bad through there. Judging by looking at stuff, markers ect.. you'll need to track left of it or stay in channel.
I stopped and talked to workers out there. The plan is to come off southeast corner of existing Geo tube (yes the deep breached corner) they're at this corner now dropping stuff and build levee from there all the way to just this side of intracoastal. Then go back towards west side about 100 yards or so off the land and back towards existing Geo tubes. I would guess about 10 acres worth or more. Then pump dredge spoils in there.

I saw that friday, it looks like it ends right on a little reef that I have been wading for many years.

Yup that's it. Starting at the bottom right of geo tube coming out almost to intracoastal then back to the left towards land and back to geo tube.

This used to be a great wade...and I used to pop big trout near there...

The initial get tubes in that pic actually covered a small oyster reef we loved....it was easily marked by the three stones on the shore.....if you knew how far off you needed to be....

Over time they will remove the tubes after grass is established and the dredge material settles for more public wet lands....

Keith...thanks for the Intel on the new project......
