Been on NPI almost 7 years and even in that relatively short period of time have seen the area change from sleepy afterthought to destination fishery ... it's still one of the best areas on the coast for a great variety of angling and water close at hand ... I just don't see how it can stay a good area with all the folks moving in ... it's still pretty quiet during the week whether fishing the ULM or Baffin or even CC bay and north ... but weekends and the 3 months of summer are getting crazy ... ... I suppose it would be nice to have a place on Baffin somewhere ... because of it looking a little like a lizard's foot there are many miles of shoreline that most people on day trips haven't got time to fish and there's the Land Cut and the Port Mansfield Channel is not far for offshore days ...

North Padre Island area is quiet, usually. I like Port Mansfield for easy inshore and offshore fishing access.

Rockport area OK but getting very crowded. I only fish during the week and stay home on weekends. Fridays are getting as crowded as Sat or Sun.

East Matty. Bastrop gets a close second. I like places that most folks avoid.

Sabine would be my first choice. Lots of fish and smaller crowds. Offshore access is close by. Galveston East bay is my second choice.

Christmas/Bastrop/Drum bay systems. East Matty and of course Baffin.

ULM/Baffin is indeed very crowded on weekends/holidays however if you avoid those days, most of the time traffic is very light. When you live here you have the luxury of being able to fish weekdays and do something else on the weekends. I typically fish sun-thurs and for the most part there are very few people on the water.

Now if you want to fish Saturday mornings between spring break and football season? Forget about it, the ICW looks like i45.
