East Bay Launch Options

I plan to fish East Bay soon. I want to avoid the boat ride from the end of TCD.

What are the options for boat ramps on the Bolivar side? Recommendations?

3 to check out

1. closest to the ferry landing; Bolivar yacht Basin small place may be out of room for the truck/trailer but has bait and is a close shot to hannah's reef. 2. Bluewater bait camp about 3 miles further down from #1. You would turn left at O'neal Rd ( one block past Hardheads Ice House) and go down to the road with a sign to the boat ramp. Bait shop dock next to the ramps. 3. Stingaree Restaurant and fish camp, bait and ramp. Go thru Crystal Beach (town) to the Velaro station/flashing lights and turn left then go right at the Y. Food, bait, ramp. This is about 4 miles past Bluewater bait camp. Stingaree has direct access to the middle of east bay. From Bluewater you have to go back to Bolivar Yacht basin to access the bay or go to Stingaree to access the bay. Go luck and have fun and be safe.

Thanks for the reply. I've found all of those on the map. I've been to Stingaree before, but not the others.

Couple of questions...I don't see Siever's Cut boat ramp in your list, perhaps there's a reason....also, if I launch at Bluewater, it seems that I could access East Bay via Siever's Cut instead of running all the way back to the BYB, right?

I prefer to launch at stingaree over the others mentioned. The ramp at bluewater is in bad shape. There is a huge hole right in the middle of the ramp, if you don't straddle it perfectly with your trailer it will fall off in it.

The above is about all the options if you mind the boat ride.. But in all seriousness, ride isn't bad from the Dike, Topwater, or Eagle point.

The yacht basin and Siever's Cut are the same place. Turn on Boyt Rd. then take the only left turn off of Boyt. Once you turn left you will drive straight into the bait camp.

I tried a few times to avoid the boat ride from TCD but found it much more pleasant (and much quicker) than the ferry ordeal and the additional towing miles.

i second aktxla.....ferry ride compared to boat ride.....boat ride hands down is the winner...i come out of moses lake and cant complain about the 30~40 minute ride across the bay

Stingaree gets my vote. I also use the public ramp just west of rollover.
I use those two because I come in from I-10 and HWY 124 in Winnie.

Greatly appreciate all of the input here.

Strong easterly wind today made me opt for a Bolivar side launch. It's no fun running across a rough bay with high winds in my boat. I chose Stingaree.

On a better day, I will make the run from the TCD because the ferry is indeed a hassle.
