Rollover Pass Fishing

Headed down to stay in Crystal for a few days starting Sunday. This will be our 4th stay and of course you would know the first trip ( during June) water was trout green to the beach for 3 out of 4 days and we smoked them, poor conditions to say the least every trip after. I get up and drive over there ( 4 miles) to check it out and just have never caught anything. Any tips or reports would be appreciated. I go the the gulf side and cast near the old pilings, last time so much bait I was snagging 2-3 little fishes with a top dog on the trebles, waste of time.

Fish the bay side near the bridge on an incoming tide. Mirrolures work well or just about anything that you can work pretty slow and keep it close to the bottom and just let the current take it.

Pass full of weed (dead hyincth) right now, fishing very slow. Rule of thumb is to fish the gulf side on an outgoing tide and bay side on incoming. Fish are there, just more weed than fish right now.

Thanks for the tips guys. I have been throwing mirrolures and the locals fish right there under the bridge. I had some extra time one day and went over there 3-4x, during tide changes, same guys in golf carts throwing tandems at tide times, not any other.

Well just got back, last night water was trout green and coming in nice, heck the beachfront was fishable but water too cold. Talked to a few locals, taking lights next time, seems to be the way to make it work.

Also if anyone sees some blue Yetis on sale ( one with Hawkins in sharpie marker) they are ours, they were lifted last night............empty but still some a holes needed them more than us. Called GC sheriff, lady came but doubt we see them again. Geez

And I just remembered, happy birthday to Jean !! Hope to see you down there one day sir.

I spoke to a friend of mines dad who lives down there full time and another gentleman whose grandfather and mine were best friends. They both highly suggested to bring lights next time so looks like I am building another Par 64 box for this summers trip.
