Happy Fathers Day

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads and Grand Dads.

My dad was an outdoors-man from Mississippi, and he started me out with a cane pole and a bobber fishing the bayous of Louisiana when I still had diapers on. I sat on his lap on a charter in the Pacific Ocean catching 40lb mahi before I was 5. Some of the best memories of him were when we where fishing or hunting. One day he had me skip school and took me goose hunting out around Garwood on a foggy day and we had a great hunt just the two of us. He took me on my first ever guided bass trip on Lake Sam Rayburn where I caught my first top water black bass of about 3lbs on a black Heddon torpedo. He took us with Jimmy West in Galveston and a striper guide on T-bend named Gilbert something way back in the day. We mostly fished freshwater when we were growing up. He probably never should have bought the bass boat while I was in High school because I was already so hooked on the outdoors I don't think he ever saw the boat again LOL... but I bet he was proud to see me catch the fish that I did, even though he had to ground me to get my grades back up because I was fishing so much. LOL. Shouldn't have bought that 4 wheeler either for hunting.. Of course I'm just kidding about him buying those things.. he did everything he could to help me and my brothers enjoy the outdoors. Best memory was skipping school to goose hunt, and another one when he wore boxer shorts to fish on a jet ski early in my saltwater career long ago (20 years ago). He told me to slow down because he "was bouncing on his jewels". LOL. Dad was a boxer short sorta guy and he worked hard at his corporate Texaco job to give us a great life that we enjoyed. All the hours he spent in traffic just so he could care for and feed his family and hunt and fish with us. Props to all the dads out there this weekend.

Tell a short story of the best memory of your dad or even a recent one.
Happy Fathers Day to all the Fathers out there
