Changing hooks on topwaters

I'm curious who changes hooks on topwaters, I usually throw top dogs or spooks and was thinking about changing the hooks out. Just curious what type and brand y'all put on them. Thanks

I like Owner or Gamakatsu 4x Strong.

#4 for little topwaters and #2 for big ones. I'll change ever Spook and Spook Jr. Top Dogs and Skitterwalks seem to come with better hooks from the factory.

VMC cone cut hooks. Take one of the old rusty originals to the tackle shop and find the size closest to the original. Be sure to replace the hooks so they lay just like the originals. You can easily replace and the hooks don't hang properly. It does make a difference.

Owner ZO Wire trebles won't rust. I used to replace all trebles with VMC 4X but even if you rinse them they rust where the eye rubs the finish off on the split rings.

Changing hooks on topwaters

I replace the factory hooks on all my top waters and Corkys. I've had too many reds bend or break the thin wire factory hooks. I do think skitterwalks have better hooks on them.

I've always used VMC 4X or Gamakatsu black nickel 4X. May try the Owner next.
