Bay Flats Lodge Trip

I have the chance to fish with Bay Flats Lodge this Friday morning and I'm stoked! I've never fished Matagorda so this will be a great experience. Questions:

1. Is it true Matagorda has more sharks this time of year? I hear some wade fishermen just don't wade right now.

2. What's the primary way the guides fish out of Bay Flats Lodge this time of year? Wade? Drift?

3. Winning numbers for the upcoming Texas Lottery by chance? (figured I'd at least check)

1. Bay Flats is in Seadrift not Matagorda

2. Its whatever the fishermen prefer, I would suggest wading.

3. I will not share the winning numbers.

Good luck

Bay Flats Lodge isn't in Matagorda it's in Seadrift. You'll probably be fishing Espiritu Santo or San Antonio Bays unless you hit the surf.

Bayflats is a great time. They got you covered from soup to nuts just relax and have fun. They run a tight ship and 1st class.

Depending on area the men in black will seek out a stinger of trout however the odds are you wont come in contact. Wind & water will dictate where you fish but you can rest assure if you wade there is gonna be hard and soft bottoms to choose from.

Take some long pants just in case the jellies are in force.

I have been bumped dozens of times by sharks while wadefishing. Donated 6 stringers to the grey suite in my lifetime. Wade fisherman are not on their menu. Sharks will get your attn but nothing to be worried about. Unless you have a mullet.....sharks like mullets.

That's a really big mullet... I guess that's what the sharks like... LOL..

Yeah, you'll either wade, drift, or sight cast with those guys. If you're trying to figure out what to bring, bring wading booties and stingray boots and boat tennis shoes.. and then if you want to wade tell them the night before so they might be able to accommodate that. Have fun.. you'll love the lodge.

I would highly recommmend wading if you don't mind getting in the water. If wanting to wade I would let them know the night before as there are certain guides there that are more adapt to wading than boat fishing. Bay Flats Lodge is more about the experience as a whole than just the fishing trip. The guides don't usually even know who is fishing with them until the morning of so come with an open mind and just enjoy it. Let the guide do his thing and you are sure to catch some fish!
