Yup, me too! Hard for us old schoolers to trust all these new fangled gadgets!

Bet you stick your rod in the water as a depth finder on a drift too huh?

Today I use my side imaging on my depth finder to find reefs. Before I had this luxurious item, I used a fishing pole to probe around with or drug an anchor. I'd tie my anchor off (short) to the side of the boat and watch what the rope was doing as I drifted. Mud bottom, rope doesn't jump much and when the rope starts jumping around I'd be on shell. I would also always go riding around during oyster season when the oyster fishermen were ringing oyster (pre-dredge) and mark areas they were in.
