Spent 10 years in Ohio. It was strange hearing goo refered to as "sheepshead". Of course, "perch" up there refers to yellow perch, not our perch, what they call sunfish.


Then again, they call the stuff you drink that's not beer, "pop". I'd go through a drive thru and ask what kind of cokes they had and they'd look at me like I lost my mind. Not too many people spoke Texan up there.

As long as there are fish to catch I don't care what you call them,but it was frustrating for me when I first moved here...I was told Conroe was full of "perch" but no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find them..sigh.

Heck, growing up in Louisiana, we had different names for a lot of fish.... Opelousas cats, Sac-a-lait, Gaspergou, Choupique, speed perch, etc...
