South Padre Surf fishing advice

My wife and our couple friends are headed to SPI this August. I'm sure the beach will be full of people and surf fishing will be difficult. I have fished everywhere, but the surf and normally fish matagorda bay. I have read hours worth of info on surf fishing, watched every surf fishing SPI video on YouTube, and have an okay idea of where to start. But, I would like to hear what the experienced have to say.

I hear the beach access 6 has some pretty good fish. This is the most appealing to me,because I like some solitude while fishing. I know I can go to the jetties and have a good chance at having a good day. I have some 6000 spinning reels on a 12' MH, and a few 7'7" MH, plus my artificial throwing rods.I would like to catch some redfish, but am game for some Jack Crevalle. I am experienced wading, but would like to try surf fishing as well.

My wife and I love to fish, but the group we are with are not.We are staying on Ling St. and I'm sure our friends would just want to get to the beach there and do the beach thing. I could get out there around 5am with two SUVs and set up 3 10x10 canopies to "reserve" a small section of the beach so I can fish.

Will I do alright at beach access 6, are the jetties worth going to, and is it true that access 6 has a lot of nude people out there ( I would want to avoid that)?

Thanks in advance for your time!
