Just wondering what some of you get away with on pulling big boats short distances with small truck/cars. Especial 4 wheel drive. Looking at leaving a large boat at the coast and just need to be able to take it a mile or two to the ramp.
Look forward to any responses.
Thanks
Say a 25' to 26' walk around with either a single or double outboards. Tandem axle aluminum trailer, no sure about a triple. Vehicle is Toyota 4runner with a v8, 4x4. Can handle about 5,000 lbs. Not sure it the larger boat size will be stretching it. Upgrading but hate to pay a monthly slip fee. Thanks
Wife is pushing for a 28' plus. Of course she just sits in the passanger seat. Some pretty good deals on mid size boats, been looking forward to moving up from my 20' WA!
Thanks
I have seen guys launching 25'ers with old 4x4 toyota 4 cyl pickups that they keep just to get the boat to the ramp. You have the same drive line that is in a Tundra, so I think if you take it easy, you should be fine pulling just a mile or two.
Be sure the trailer brakes are in good working order.
