Can't beat fresh grilled venison tenderloins...
Hunted on a private ranch SW of Crockett this weekend. First time to hunt this place(I have sole hunting access) so after looking around Friday pm, picked out a tree and hung a stand. Sat pm I had 5 does, 2 fawns, 1 basket rack 8 at 20-30 yds in front of me and a 4pt coming in as well. Guess I found a good spot.
Took a nice sized barren doe. Double lung hit but she still ran aobut 300yds??? First time anyone I hit like that ran that far. 4 hunts, saw deer on all of them, could have had shots on 3 of the 4. not bad.
Next night wrapped the loins with bacon and grilled, gotta love it.
Going back in a few weeks looking for the big boy!

I agree. Grill venison is great. I killed a Red Stag a couple of years ago and let me tell you, the backstraps of that were awesome, just grilled it like a big steak. I do the same with whitetails too and as long as you don't cook it too long it's great!

Congrats on the hunt as well, sounds like a good spot. That is a long way for the deer to run w/ a good hit...I'm of the opinion that some are tougher than others.

That's the first time I've ever had one run that far with a good hit like she had. To make it worse, I hit the stomach tube inside the diaphram and the stomach matter was trying to stop up the hole so there was little blood to track. Just went thru the motions of where would a deer run and found enough blood to find her.
