It is so true that it is getting tougher to get in nowadays. My son was up at the new student conference last week as well. They told him 8000 were accepted out of 32,000 applicants. Don't know if the numbers are accurate, but my wife was thinking she was sure glad she didn't have to apply these days.
'07, glad to hear you will make some games. My band son is a dead zip now but I have a new fish son that will be in C-1. If you are on the quad and venture down to the brigades stop and say hi. We'll be there.
Hilton, I wish your son well-he'll really enjoy his time in that field. I was Biomedical Science/Pre-vet back in the day. Those were fun years; make sure he soaks the entire experience up.
How about those new football uniforms? I had flashbacks of the '70's.

I'm afraid A&M is gonna need that "12th man" in the SEC. Well, at least I'll now have somebody to root for in that conference.

That's true. I'm not very familiar with A&M's admission requirements, but at UT you have to be in the top 10% of your high school class, or transfer in from another college with about a 3.8 GPA or better to be assured entrance. Less than that, good luck.
I give you Aggies hell in the Sports forum because your football program is gay and y'all defected to the SEC, but A&M is a quality school academically. It's not up to UT standards, of course, but it is a quality institution of higher learning.
But, seriously, Hilton, I'm sure you are very proud of your son, and understandably so.

SEC Country!
Thanks MC - proud papa for sure.
I don't believe stepping up to a bigger challenge is gay - I'm proud of the direction that our program is headed.
Looks like this thing is going viral....got this off of another site.
Have a good day.

A&M & Texas are pretty much equal when it comes to academics and admission standards, whether the sippers would like to admit it or not. A&M is the only Land, Sea, and Space Grant University in the state. A&M is also in the process of bringing the national bio-security center online in College Station which is worth billions of dollars. Also, the Wall Street Journal recently noted that Aggies are the most highly recruited students out of school. It's good to be the flagship.

Good Luck Tom ....
.... your journey begins as ours ends. My daughter graduates from A&M in December (hopefully) . It has been a quick 3.5 years (she is graduating a semester early and heading to nursing school for a BSN.) Started in Biomedical Science (pre-Vet) but found out early how tough that curriculum is and changed her major early on. Make sure your kiddo bears down from the first day and DOES NOT get behind. Best wishes and welcome to the world of Aggie Dads.

Congrats Tom I'm sure your one proud dad. I read a pretty cool story on the front page of the sports section in SA yesterday, The Aggies will have 23 current or former athletics competing in the Olympic games in London in a few weeks. 23 breaks the all time record for any University, they broke their own record from 4 years ago when they had 17 participating.

Congrats to your son! Class of '87 here. Daughter will be a junior this fall at A&M.
Good times going up to visit. Gonna be hard tickets to get to the SEC games this Fall. Can't wait.
