What kind of reels everybody using
As you can see, this is my first post. A buddy turned me on to this forum a couple of months ago and I'm throughly enjoying it. Lots of good information to be had.
Now down to business. A couple of weeks ago someone broke into my garage and stole my takle box and 4 or 5 of my reels. They didn't find my rod (thank goodness).
They took 2 Curado BSF's and 2 c200's. Which were my go to reels. They were all older reels but my favorites.
Question is, is the curado still a good reel these days, I've briefly looked on the web site and they seem to offer my model Curados these days.
Which ones do ya'll recommend??
Mostly all saltwater with artificials, although I'll sneak a live shrimp under a poping cork in there sometimes.

First off, good first post and sorry about your loss.
You'll get a lot more responses if you post this question in the General Fishing Discussion section, versus this reel maintenance section. You've asked a very popular question and you will get a lot of responses, a lot of opinions, and a lot of references to previous threads.
I have six CU-200's, all the same 1994-2002 model and I love them to death. Just disassembled one down to the frame, the first time I've gone that far, and really love working on them. I have had excellent luck scoring very good condition CU-200's on eBay, and in fact just bought two mint condition this past week. $91 for one, $101 for the other, which is less than I would have spent at FTU or Academy for a new model Shimano. So that is one route if you were pleased with your old reels and familiar with working on them. Replace them in kind.
I'll leave it to the others to steer you in other directions. There are many...

Bummer about the theft. I hate that.
You should be able to score the reels that you are used to on ebay. If they are in pretty good shape, then one of the guys mentioned above (Dipsay, Mike) should be able to make them sing for you. As CLC mentions, a $100 and some patience will score a Curado on-line.
I'm still an Ambassadeur user. Stuck in the 1990s, I guess.
Welcome to 2Cool.

X3. Very sorry to hear about the circumstances. I agree with CLC and Histprof totally. I would try to find what ya lost. It will be a bit more difficult to replace those BSF's IMO. I was sick when I read that. I can only imagine how ya feel. sorry for the loss bro..Dip

Thanks for the responses so far guys.
CLC, I took your advice and copied my question to the general discussion board.
The E-Bay idea is a good one, I'll start shopping

There are some real nice CU-200's on eBay right now, and a good looking BSF. Set up your profile for receiving Private Messages, and I'll give you a hand sorting through them if you'd like. I've scored three mint condition off eBay in the past year.

Sorry to hear about the theft. I've got a CU200, CU100B,CU100D and a NIB Citica 200E. Also got a bunch of Garcias that I don't use anymore.

I snagged an Abu ProMax 1600 the other day for $20. I tore it down and cleaned it when it came in the mail today. Looks great. I am always amazed at how people just throw gear out. It was an estate sale item and the guy listed it for parts, saying that it did not turn easily. Once I cleaned the gummy stuff out of the worm gear and loosened the spool tension that was down all the way, it turned as smooth as a ProMax should. I will give it a try tomorrow.
