Port Aransas surf/jetty conditions?

Was thinking about heading out next Sunday/Monday to do a little surf fishing.
Anyone been here lately? How was the fishing? Weeds?

Fished Mustang surf Sat. Morning from about 7:30 to 10:30 water was almost green very little weed. Water was almost to the dunes. Managed one very large whiting and few small ones. Also caught a Stargazer first time for one of them from the surf for me. Did not see anyone else catching anything. Did not make it to the jetty.

I've never surf/jetty fished after a gulf storm. From what I've been reading, everyone was hammering everything in gulf and bays this past week. Can the same be expected after the storm?
I plan on going probably Sunday evening for low tide, but for sure for high tide Monday morning.
What kind of action should I expect at the jetty?

Also, what bait shop do you suggest? When do they normally open? I'd hate to drive down and get there at 5am only to find out nothing opens until 6am.
Thanks

That was exactly the case last time I was there and they were running late, but that has been several years. There is a new owner of Fin & Feather, you can find him on the ttmb board, they might be 24 hrs.

Just called Fin & Feather, they don't open until 6am on Mondays.

Anyone know of any bait shops that open earlier in the Rockport/Port A area?
