Hwy 146 Lane Closure Question

I see where Hwy 146 will be closed tomorrow between Red Bluf and Wharton Weems but it says alternating lanes. I think it's been like this for a month or so. How bad does the traffic get backed up from this closure. Does it seem beneficial to take another route around?

Anyone with any real life experience with this construction?

Live off Port Rd and 146, the signs yesterday said Red Bluff will be closed the 23rd (nothing about tomorrow the 17th????) During non-rush hour, the delays are not bad with lane detours...but during rush hours it is horrible going N. or S. from Kemah to Shore Acres even without lane closures.
