I think I have settled on a trailer to replace my original.
Boat Recap - 19' Shoalwater Stealth.

I have to say though, I am disappointed in SAW and Coastline. I contacted them several times and no response. Business must be good for them.

But back to my - pretty sure going to purchase - new trailer:
  • Magnum
  • Custom constructed to fit my ride
  • Single axle
  • No brakes
  • Fenders with steps (front and back of well)
  • Torsion axles
  • PVC guides
  • LED lights
  • Aluminum
No spare tire or carrier. I thought this kind of odd but the guy tells me this is a typical option on trailers.

Price at $3,029 plus tax. I asked how long is the price good for and was told price is good for the foreseeable future - no prices hikes anticipated.

$600 down and balance when the trailer arrives.

4-6 weeks to build

Being retired Navy, I asked for military discount and was told no discounts on custom built trailers. I plan to pay cash - no discount for that either.

Does this price sound about right?

even if you dont get a discount for being a vet you should get a discount on a cash deal. at least throw in a spare.

I had Magnum in S.A. do a couple of repairs for me, both times I had to redo the repair myself, account of shoddy work. Their main shop in Austin seems to make good trailers, but I would not let the S.A. shop do any work for me.

Champ - Thanks for the feedback on Magnum San Antonio. Sounds like your in SA. PM me for a beer

Paragod - The steps coming on this trailer are a triangular flat plate section about 10-inches long. I'm going off memory as I didn't actually measure. I just stepped up on it and it seemed good.

Goodwood - I think I will ask for the spare since I have cash - I'm not expecting anything though other than a fair shake.

Anyone out there have any comment on the price?

Check out the Vault Hubs as well.

Paragod built my trailer. Would not go any place else.

I found a decent used tandem axle and installed all new bunk wood, carpet, brackets, hardware, 1 new hub, and new bearings on 2 other hubs for less than half of a new one... I plan to downsize boats in a few years, that was my main factor... timing is also a factor.

Jeep 79: Vault Hubs - not sure what they are but I will look into it.

Paragod: thanks for the confirmation on price. Just looking for a fair shake.

Not sure if I will keep this boat for a long time or sell in a few years, but either way I'll need a new trailer. Just looking for a quality product at a fair price.
