got a friend in Kansas that had a v star 650 like yours, about the same year model. he's a big guy, and a seasoned rider that is used to a lot of very fast bikes.
he still maintains that his old 650 had plenty of power for a good time!

I like it. I just purchased a 2002 V-Star 650 a week ago. Great for going to work each day.

It is a shaft drive.
