Circle hooks

Any one using circle hooks? I just started end of last Sumer and this year, I've noticed that I really haven't had any deep hook sets since. There typically pretty easy to get out and do not cause a lot of unnecessary trauma to the fish

Theyre designed to slide into the corner of a fishes mouth, not hook it deep

I exclusively use circle hooks when fishing with live shrimp. I highly recommend it!

If you let a Redfish take the bait for too long you will still gut or throat hook him with a circle hook. Be prepared to cut off a few hooks on the ones that are hooked deep.

Circle hooks are nice. The idea of lip hooking a fish is precisely why they are required for use when fishing for reef fishes. Snapper, grouper, etc. I like em' pretty good.

EWG .... extra wide gap kahle hooks are almost as good with lures, rarely deep hook and mostly set in the lip or corners.. i like circles too.

Do any of you all you circle hooks under corks? My hook up ratio is a lot worse when i am fishing a circle hooks under a cork rather than just free lining it.

I do and they work for me. I just lower the rod tip, reel in the slack and just when I feel the pull of the fish I lift the rod tip up and pull back on the rod, almost over my head-slowly. With a quality rod, you can feel the hook's initial penitration. It's like a crisp pop as the fish turns and sets the hook in the corner of it's mouth.

For my kids, I don't use a circle hooks. They're too programed to set the hook as if they're trying to kill, scale and fillet the fish all in one fell swoop!
