Fishing Sunday West Bay.

I went down to sportsman road with my Wilderness Tarpon 120 for the first time. Put in at the public boat ramp on sportmans rd between the houses. Paddled out about 150 yards turned around and paddled back against the wind towards the truck. Desided that would be the last time i did that....lol. 25-30mph winds is a bit much.

Used DOA shrimp, Three Maniac Mullet i bought on the way and cast netted about 2 dozon finger mullet for bait also. End respult was a 12 inch hard head, 11 inch whiting, and a "sheepHead" looking fish with out the classic teeth 15 inches.
I woke up saturday morning around 6:45 loaded up. Went to work till 5pm then drove down to the bay. Got about two hours of rest parked around 3:30am Sunday (after catching bait, and throwing some shrimp off the rocks)
Got up, started throwing things in the Kayak around 5am sunday. Being my first time... i brought way to much stuff on the yak. Good Learning lesson though. Cant wait to go on a calm day, be nice to throw a few flies at tailing reds next time.

I used to do that. When it is calm in the morning, I would go out to the islands and not pay attention to the wind picking up. Have an anchor so you can at least take a break on the way back.

Be smarter than I was, I did it at least a dozen times before I realized that it was much easier to go in the evening when the wind would lay (sometimes).

I used to do that at POC.
Drive down there on Friday night, sleep in the truck, get up at the crack.
Fish all day and drive home....
I was young then but it was a killer on me....
Lots of fish then though.

Thanks Guys!! I had a great time. Cant wait to go again. Merc.... Im off sunday and Mondays.. you should know that from racing the 1/10 F1 cars lol. Let me know... ill meet you where ever.
