I have had the same problem with the iphone overheating. I did get a nano which works fine but until i got the nano i would sometimes open the face and let air circulate inside the raido to cool it down. The radio will still play while it is open. I know of one other person that had the same problem and Eric at SCB changed out the radio.

I did change the radio out recently so time will tell during the hot summer if/when I plug in my iphone versus the nano. The radio was replaced because it was condensating behind the screen in foggy moist conditions. Not good for a waterproof radio.
same deal here... the only thing I've found that helps it, is to have the phone near full charged when you first put it in. If I put it in and it's constantly charging and playing, it will over heat

I have no idea.. go to the Target store and say you want an ipod nano.. then choose the size based on all your songs to fill it with. Also, if you get the fusion, make sure to request the nano bracket that holds it when plugged in.. they came out with that after I got mine so I had one sent to me from them, free.
My iphone and nano both work fine and both charge while in radio. The iphone is not officially supported in that radio even though it works fine (at least has for me), and the heat issues may be why. I just bought a $100 nano that never leaves my boat.
yup, my iphone and nano play and charge just fine, no over heating but it helps with my t-top... i just leave my nano in there now, it's so much easier too.
no, it's the older model nano from a few years back, i liked this one better than the tiny 1"x1" nano that is currently made. it's only about 1x3" and very thin.
